Working with Labels and Annotation...

Tonight we worked on annotations and labels. I found it very difficult to put all this information on an 8.5" X 11" canvas, but I learned an lot about the difference between graphic labels, dynamic labels, and annotation.

  1. wow, very stylish. I like the color gradation. Is that from another layer that you added?

ps- snuggies were in the news this morning. they made it to nyc fashion week.

  2. What is the color scheme for the states, the graduation I suppose? It's sweet.

    Another great map...

  3. I like how the state names follow the general direction of the state lines. The color is good, too--highlights geographic more than political boundaries.

  5. Yes, the elevation layer was a kind gift from Travis. I saw it on one of his maps and he shared.

  6. I like the counties, are those halos that set it off from the background. Also, when I click on your landscape file, I can see the whole file, on mine, when I click it goes off the page and you have to scroll to see the rest of it. Is that because of the resolution?

  7. Good looking map!! I would have 'centered' the stacked alignment for the South Carolina state label. You also loose your Georgia state label due to you legend.

  8. This map looks nice. I like the background, it adds another level to the map. Is that a DEM? Nice legend, too. I like the non-rectangle symbols.

  9. Nice use of hillshade and coloring. I also felt that the size limitation and labeling reqirements were a challange.

  10. This is an awesome map! Did you use a DEM to give hillshading? The monotone color background for all the states makes it less cluttered as well.
